We recently spent two days in Custer, SD, and it was fantastic. Custer is a perfect base camp for taking in all the surrounding sites including Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, Custer St. Park wildlife loop, and the Custer St. Park Sylvan Lake area including Black Elk Peak-Little Devils Tower-Cathedral Spires hikes.

The room was cozy, we didn’t need a lot of space, it was perfect. Wish we had more time to walk around the property. They have several outdoor games. We had breast the Feel Good Restaurant next door, very convenient

Initially, we had booked stay in various towns, but changed this and made Custer our main stay. This allowed us a central location, whilst we took days out to State Park, Mount Rushmore, Deadwood, Sturgis and other places, and saved us from packing/unpacking for the duration of our trip!

Great central location to Custer State Park, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, Mt Rushmore. You can get a decent meal. It is not just burger restaurants. Custer State Park has incredible wildlife especially at dawn and dusk. It is as good as most National Parks. The Custer tourist area is the same as any of the others but the buffalo sculptures set it apart. There is also a farmer's market downtown.

Convenient access to the beautiful, Black Hills of South Dakota! A welcoming town with great shops and good restaurants. Next time w3e come, we want to rent quads to travel around the area, especially Needles Highway and Custer State Park Wilderness Drive!
My family and I stayed at the Best Western Buffalo Ridge on a recent trip to Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and the Badlands NP. It was the perfect location for visiting all the sites. My only complaint/observation is that the hotel rooms are on the smaller side which made it a bit cramped for my family of 4. We were road tripping and had quite a bit of luggage. The beds were comfortable. The best part was the breakfast every morning. The staff working the breakfast were wonderful and kind! Overall we would stay again!
Another hotel showing it's age a little. Room was pretty plain. It could have at least done with a picture on the wall to liven it up. Having said that it was clean and the bed comfortable so for a one night stop over it was OK. It's very well located being just a short walk to the main street and all the bars and restaurants. The guy on the front desk was very friendly. Breakfast was pretty standard, waffles etc. It wasn't stupidly expensive so we felt that it was value for money.
It was very nice, the receptionist was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pretty standard for mid-range hotels. Price wise, for those who are staying in the area for a few days, it's probably close to what you would expect to pay. The location is great, just a few miles from Jewel Cave National Monument and about in the middle of the Black Hills.
There were several features we really liked about this hotel. Breakfast was good with a nice variety of hot and cold items. The eggs and omelets were tasty, better than the usual powdered variety found at most included breakfasts. And the hotel's location was great for visiting Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, and other activities in the area.
Absolutely great quaint place in Custer! Common areas were social ready! Host was very accommodating and the smell of great bbq greeted us. Room was equiped with an hour attention to detail, coffee machine, bidet, and a towel warmer. What else could you want!? Will be recommending this place to all family and friends!
Although an older type motel it had everything we needed. The room was clean and the staff was really helpful. Custer was small quaint place that is well worth a visit and this motel was in keeping. Not modern but working and sufficient for us - good value for money.
I loved everything about this place!! It was clean, comfortable and very pet friendly! They have the best pillows I have ever slept on! The staff was really friendly and accommodating and the continental breakfast was top notch! I would definitely stay there again!!
Breakfast has "hot" waffles, biscuits, white bread, juice, yogurts, coffee.
Location is just less than 5 minutes from downtown Custer, 15 minutes to Crazy Horse. 30 minutes to Mt Rushmore. 20 minutes to Lake Sylvan and 30 minutes to Wildlife Loop Road.
This little gem in Custer, South Dakota is awesome. The cutest little cabins! Our was tiny, but it had a microwave and mini fridge. Bed and linens were lovely. Tiny shower. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. We will stay again if in Custer.
The breakfast was very good with fried eggs, sausage patties, and biscuits and gravy. The location was great only a few minutes from Custer State park and half hour from Mt. Rushmore. The outdoor access was nice to unload our stuff.
We loved the location and the look of the facility. It was spotless, nostalgic yet modern, and within walking distance of a good brew pub. Our stay in Custer was memorable because of our choice to stay at the Rocket.
I really liked that I was able to get a 3 bedroom home with a full kitchen for less than the price of a hotel room. This was a very nice place to stay and I would definitely stay there again if I'm in the area.
Check in was a breeze even though I reached the hotel late. Hot tub was still available so I had a nice soak. I loved the decor of the place. The bed was really comfortable. The Receptionist was awesome.
we had been here before and decided to come back: so central in Custer and in a key point for visiting many locations. the room was very clean and comfortable. the staff is extremely friendly and helpful
