If you’re like us, you might have an American Express platinum card which gives you Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status. After our most recent stay in a Marriott property, we wanted to know if we could pop into the lounge for a snack. However, we quickly discovered this wasn’t possible. The simple answer: No, you don’t get executive lounge access with Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status. Executive lounge access is only complimentary for Platinum, Titanium, or Ambassador Elite status members. If you have Silver or Gold Elite status, you need to book a room on an executive floor to get access to executive lounge benefits.

We inquired further and found that if you didn’t spring for the executive floor room, you can still get lounge access by paying an access fee. This fee will vary by property, but will generally run from $40 to 100 dollars per night. If you plan on eating most meals there, doing work in a quiet space, or spending a lot of time taking in the views from prime locations most executive lounges are in, the cost may be worth it. However, on most of our vacations, we don’t spend enough time in the lounge to want to spend the extra cash.

You can view all the details on member status benefits on Marriott Bonvoy’s website.
