Have a loved one who loves to travel? Did you procrastinate on your holiday shopping or still trying to think of some last minute ideas? We put together a list of the things we at Travel Fish love and would be excited to find under our tree, and they’re all still available to pick up quickly before Christmas. These options range from budget-friendly to extravagant. Whatever you pick, we’re sure your traveler will love their gift!
Osprey Porter 46 Carry-On Backpack
The Osprey Porter 46 fits carry on requirements for most airlines and has enough space for smart travelers to easily pack for a week or two. The exterior straps help to compress the contents into a small, easy to carry package. It’s also priced quite reasonably for a quality backpack at $130 USD. We are planning to pick a couple of these up for our upcoming trips to Europe in 2017. You can visit your nearest REI store, or pick it up on Amazon with free 2-day shipping if you have a Prime account.
Charging Electronics On the Go
A simple stocking stuffer that has saved us many times, portable chargers are easy to pack and will charge electronics in situations where a traveler might not have access to a wall socket. These little guys are small and budget friendly, although they don’t hold as much oomph. I also have this more powerful charger and use it frequently on the road. It is still about the size of a large smartphone and can quickly boost all our electronics.
A Universal Power Adapter
This universal power adapter from Flight 001 is perfect for anyone who plans on visiting multiple countries. It works almost anywhere and because it stacks together, it’s simple to throw in a carry-on. Figuring out which plug to use is easy because of the color-coded map that Flight 001 has put together. Pick it up from their website or, again, from Amazon with free Prime shipping.
A Warm, Compressible Coat
We’ll be in Europe in February this year, and it will be chilly. Since we’re only taking a carry-on for clothing, I recently picked up the Nano Puff Hoody from Patagonia. While a little costly, this is the warmest jacket we’ve tested lately and it compresses down into it’s own pocket. It’s lightweight but warm and will be perfect for travel. Patagonia offers the same jacket in both men’s and women’s sizes.nWe found ours at our local REI and you can also rush ship it from Patagonia.
Printed Photos, Simplified
We’ve been using Groovebook for over a year now and love receiving our travel photos printed into a little flip book, every month. After downloading the app, you can select up to 100 photos each month that they will print and ship to you in a book that you can keep as-is, or tear the pics out to display. For only $2.99 a month, you can gift 3, 6, or 12 months to your favorite traveler. To do this, install the app and make an account, and then tap on the “gifting” icon.
Something for the Pooches
Does your favorite traveler have some furry companions? We try to bring ours with us when we can, but it’s not always possible for them to come along. One of the best gifts we could be given is a gift card to our favorite Doggie Daycare. We would also happily accept an offer to babysit our pups while we are traveling, and that is nearly free since we provide all their food, crates, and treats!
A Foot Care Kit
While it might be boring, a foot care kit is pure gold for the traveler who will spend a lot of time walking. Good socks are the first prevention for awful blisters, and we personally love Darn Tough Socks. Blister Band Aids will help if those evil blisters that do start to show up. Burt’s Bees makes a great travel size foot cream that soothes sore, dry soles. Wrapping up a kit of nice foot products makes a great stocking stuffer for a traveler!
